Department of Computer Science & Engineering

Department of Computer Science & Engineering was established in the year 2002. Department offers M.Tech & B.Tech degree in Computer Science & Engineering. CSE department is deeply committed to providing high quality undergraduate and graduate education. The course has a comprehensive curriculum aimed to provide knowledge, in both theoretical and practical aspects of Computer Science, with an emphasis on practical learning. Core subjects include Programming Languages, Computer Architecture, Operating System, Computer Networking, Cryptography and Artificial Intelligence. Elective subjects are chosen to help the students to learn more about the various trends in computing. Classes are handled by young and vibrant faculty members committed to teaching. They motivate the students to become an engineer suited to meet the standards expected by the IT industry. Professional bodies like CSI & IEEE are active in the department. Department of CSE provides state-of-the-art computing facilities to the students supported by high speed LAN and Wi-Fi.

Program Outcomes (POs)

  • Engineering Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering Fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • Design/ Development of Solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct Investigations of Complex Problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • Modern Tool Usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • The Engineer and Society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

  • Graduates will achieve broad and in-depth knowledge of Computer Science and Engineering relating to industrial practices and research to analyze the practical problems and think creatively to generate innovative solutions using appropriate technologies.

  • An ability to apply development principles to analyze and design complex software and systems containing hardware and software components of varying complexity.

ACM student chapter of our department was inaugurated by Dr. Sabu M Thampi, Chapter Chair, Trivandrum on 1/4/2016. The event was followed by an expert talk on “Machine Learning in Cyber Security”.

The department provides computing facilities with separate computers to each student. All laboratories are connected to 20Mbps internet connection.

PG Laboratory

This laboratory is specially designed for the computer science and engineering department to facilitate the students to do their mini and major projects inside the campus. It has 36 personal computers. All are networked and well furnished.

Projects vary from System software and application software development, design and optimization of new algorithms, database projects, graphics application development, audio/video compression software, multimedia and network related projects, development of server softwares for network management etc.

Software Laboratory

This lab is meant for conducting laboratory experiments to the students of computer science and engineering department .This lab is equipped with 36 systems with all the necessary programming software.

Hardware Laboratory

Experiments conducted in this lab include familiarization with PC components and assembling and maintenance of computer systems. Lab sessions are provided to first year students to familiarize with motherboard, processors, expansion slots, power supply units etc.

This lab is also used to conduct Assembly Language programming sessions. Low level programming with 8086, interfacing experiments using stepper motor, ADC, DAC and HEX keyboard are handled in this lab.

The lab has ten 8086 trainer kits, in-circuit emulators for popular 8 and 16 bit processors, digital storage oscilloscopes and digital testing equipment. It is also equipped with 25 personal computers for conducting MASM/TASM programming sessions.

This lab is meant for managing programming contests on the Web. It suports automatic judging of submitted programs, answering questions about problems and tracking printouts.
